Singing with my favorite little man

No words are needed. I love singing with Justin. When we take long trips, we blare the music and dance along while we belt out the tunes. I love our little moves to the words and the beat. We are quite the pair.

I love you Justin Jeppen Allen! You're my best friend!

Coaching Basketball

I have had so much fun coaching Justin's basketball team this season. It's been great having Mark help me. He is so good with the kids and he knows the game so much better than I.

We've lost 2 games and won 2 games. It is so amazing to see how the kids improve each week. We have 5 boys and 2 girls. Everyone plays well together and they work well as a team.

I need to remember to take my camera and have one of the other moms take pictures.

I need to get better at updating this blog.

Justin is doing so good. He loves basketball. He's begging to play soccer this summer instead of football. Singing in the Terri Tavaci group has been the best thing for him. He loves singing and performing and is always full of energy. He is so excited to have a part into night's performance. I'm so proud of him.

Life is FABULOUS!

Race for Life

I can't believe I forgot to blog about our trip to South Jordan for the Race for Life. It was so great. Justin's gears needed adjusted but since he didn't want to practice, we did not have a chance to adjust them.
During practice, Justin was wandering around deep in thought. He came to me almost in tears and said, "I don't feel good without Bryan here. I don't want to race." One of our fellow racers got down on their knee, gave Justin a hug and said, "Bryan is in heaven watching down on all of us. He would be sad watching you stand on the sideline." That was just what Justin needed. After not being on the track for 2 years, he went out there and gave it his all. Out of 8 riders, he came in 4th. I was so proud of him and tears of joy fell down my cheek. I miss the Utah BMX family. I miss having that activity we shared together. I miss seeing my baby do his best and feel so proud of himself.
We will forever miss Bryan and be grateful to him for introducing us to such a great sport.

My Basketball Star

Justin is so amazing out on the court. He has such speed and control. I love it when he jumps high as a pass flies past him and he slams the ball out of its path. Everybody loves watching the smallest player work so hard for the team.

Today was a close game. At half time, the score was 2 - 14, we were in the lead. After the break, our team seemed really tired but they continued to play hard. The ending score was 12 - 14. Another mother and I sat on the side lines showing our passion for the red team. It was as if we were out there on the court with them, wanting to carry the ball for them.

This shot was a "nothin' but net" basket. The crowd stood and cheered cuz it looked so amazingly cool! That's my boy!

Basketball...

I am so glad Justin agreed to try basketball again. His favorite sport is football but he is so good at basketball. He was the star of the game. The coach adores him and the other parents kept commenting on how Justin is such a go getter. I know.
He made a few baskets and assisted many others. The red team won 26 to 10. It was close in the first period but after that, the red team seemed to find their groove and they made basket after basket.
I can't wait to watch the next game, and the next one and the next one... I'm hoping to find a city league to sign Justin up for.
Our life is GREAT!

Island Park

Justin and I had the most spectacular time at Island Park this weekend. We rode snowmobiles, played in the snow, laid around and relaxed, ate yummy food, saw Mesa Falls and the Tetons, and just totally enjoyed ourselves.

A Tribute to our dear friend Bryan Oblad

Justin and I were honored to be a part of an honorary walk on the BMX track that Bryan loved so much. Justin was my strength and walked by myside holding my hand and telling me it would be ok.

Bryan was a great man with a big heart. He was what BMX is all about...a true honest competitive rider who put his heart into racing and shared his passion with those closest to him. Justin and I had the privilege of getting to know Bryan on a very personal level and we grew to love BMX racing thru Bryan's passion.

Fly High in heaven FLYBRY. Give Grandma Hoopes loves from us! Thank you so much for all you did for us. Your smile will live on forever in our hearts!
